Model 3 is my first/last Tesla
A friend of mine really got into Tesla, back in 2014 he was telling me that he was going to buy a Model S and drive across country with his family. I was jealous, I had met those who owned the Model S but my two fancy RVs TOGETHER were less than the cost of a Model S. He then told me about a potential Short Squeeze that was going to happen with Tesla stock and suggested that I purchase some of my own. I had been doing really well with Apple stock, I had even sold some early stock that covered the cost of buying into Apple. That money was just sitting there, so I thought, "why not?"
Many months later I was a happy Tesla stock owner having almost doubled my money, he still had not purchased the Model S. He approached me again, this time asking if I wanted to wait in line with him as Tesla was releasing a new product. I ALWAYS wait in line for iPhones and such, so I was game. I got to the store in Monterey at midnight, 3 hours before anyone else, and almost 5 hours before my friend. At 10 am we were able to put down up to two reservations, no idea what it was going to be, but I liked the idea of investing more in Tesla.
After the announcement of the Model 3 and before I took delivery there was almost two years (as I was not already a Tesla owner) of obsessing about this future car. Everything that I could want in a car is in my Model 3. I say that w/o having owned the car thru a winter, but I have been insanely happy with the performance of the car, the reliability of the car, the bi-weekly upgrades. It is so far ahead of everything else out there that I think I may have bought the last car of my life. I hear rumors of 1 million mile battery and drivetrain. With the car being sold with Full Self Driving I should be able to have this car drive me to the hospital in 50 years when I am 106 and park itself. I even have dreams of being able to let the car run down to my friend's house in the Monterey area and deliver something to him that I don't want to drive down myself. He can charge the car off his Tesla Solar/Powerwall system and send it back.
What a dream machine.
